Physiotherapy takes a holistic approach in helping to restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability. It can also help to reduce your risk of injury or illness in the future. It seeks to identify, correct and prevent movement problems and helps to eliminate pain without medication or invasive procedures, improve balance, return to normal daily and sports activities and in many cases avoid surgery.
On your first session, a detailed account of the problem will be taken, followed by a physical examination. After that your physiotherapist will explain your condition and discuss the most appropriate treatment plan with you.
The treatment plan may include one or be a combination of the following options: massage, joint mobilisations, manipulations, acupuncture, ergonomic assessment, postural re-education, taping, exercises and advice.
If, following the assessment, treatment is not deemed appropriate, the patient will be advised accordingly and given advice as to what would be more appropriate for the condition. Examples of this include a simple home management regime to self manage the condition, or perhaps, a referral to a different specialist.
In Nordic Physio we aim to keep your number of treatment sessions to a minimum by providing you with the best advice and self treatment options.
